This position in the Veterinary Genetics Laboratory (VGL) will provide
leadership for the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine’s Veterinary Forensic
Genetics Program. This includes direction of the VGL Forensic Unit that analyzes
the
animal biological material submitted by local, state and federal government
agencies as well as the general public for purposes of species identification,
DNA profiling, and genetic individualization.
The successful candidate will conduct independent and collaborative research
in forensic genetics to advance and
promote the science of veterinary forensics. Research areas of emphasis include
population and molecular genetics. In addition, the successful candidate is
expected to provide educational opportunities to students in the UC Davis Master
of Science in Forensic Science program and occasional lectures in the School of
Veterinary Medicine.
This position is in the Professional Research series, level and salary are
dependent on qualifications.
