I have a B.S.
degree in Chemistry from Mercer University in Macon, Georgia and a Master of
Science degree in Forensic Chemistry from Northeastern University in Boston,
Massachusetts. I have been employed
with the Broward Sheriff’s Office Crime Laboratory since January 1982 in the
Analytical Section of the laboratory, which consists of the Drug analysis Unit,
Fire Debris Analysis Unit and the Trace Evidence Unit.
In the Drug Analysis Unit I examine evidence submitted to the laboratory
by various law enforcement agencies for the presence of any controlled
substances which may be present, prepare reports stating my findings and present
these findings in court as an expert witness.
In the Fire Debris Analysis Unit, I examine evidence collected at a fire
scene for the presence of any ignitable liquid residues.
I am also the Technical Leader of the Drug Analysis Unit which means that
I am responsible for the technical operations of the unit, problem solving of
all analytical methods, validation of all new analytical techniques, training
new analysts and the quality control and safety programs within the unit.
