Toxicologist – Michigan
State Police
The Michigan State Police is soliciting applications from
qualified candidates to fill a toxicologist position vacancy within the Breath
Alcohol Program in Lansing, Michigan. This
is a Clinical Health Scientist Specialist Level 14 position.
The salary range for this position is $24.29 – $33.09 per hour.
Beginning salary will depend on level of experience and expertise.
To
be considered for this position, applicants must possess a Ph.D. in the field of
Toxicology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or Pharmacology, and must have at least 3
years of experience in a scientific laboratory.
Experience in the field of forensic toxicology dealing with alcohol is
preferable, but not required.
This
position will provide toxicology expertise within the Breath Alcohol Program,
and will be responsible for administering and setting standards for Michigan’s
statewide Breath Alcohol Test Program.
Functioning as the program expert, the incumbent will advise and assist
legislators, judges, prosecutors, police chiefs, sheriffs, state police
personnel, Department of State personnel, and others in matters relating to
offenses involving alcohol and drugs.
This individual will represent the Michigan State Police in an
authoritative capacity on breath alcohol testing and as the expert witness in
court proceedings involving alcohol and drugs.
This individual will be required to research and evaluate new and
emerging technology and perform live subject testing, as needed, to continually
validate Michigan’s breath testing program.
