JOB ANNOUNCEMENT: CODIS Laboratory Technical Leader
The CODIS Laboratory Technical Leader is responsible for technical aspects of
the DNA laboratory; evaluation of methods used by the laboratory; acting as a
reference contact for questions and problems encountered in the laboratory;
reviewing and keeping current documentation of laboratory operations as required
by the Quality Assurance System; and providing oversight of training, safety and
proficiency testing in the laboratory. Position requires regular interaction
with local, state and national forensic crime laboratories. Technical Leader is
also a DNA bench analyst. This position requires the person to meet all
education and experience requirements of a laboratory technical leader,
according to Federal Quality Assurance Standards for DNA Laboratories. Salary is
commensurate with a DNA Analyst IV position with 3 years forensic DNA laboratory
experience. Requires a Master’s Degree in biology, chemistry or a forensic
related field, plus 12 credit hours in biochemistry, genetics, molecular biology
and statistics.
Position is funded through a cooperative agreement with the National
Institute of Justice and is a full-time position.
