Proposed Bylaws Changes
The following are Proposed Bylaws Amendments
to be voted on by the Association at the Fall 2000 Meeting in Asheville, NC.
Submitted for publication on July 10, 2000.
Chapter I – Membership
Section 4 – Application for Membership
DELETE the word “Secretary” totally
in this Section
Section 5 – Termination of Membership
DELETE the word “Secretary” totally
in subsections (a) and (b)
Chapter III – Officers and Management
Section 1 – Officers
CHANGE the first line to read:
“Officers of the Association shall
consist of a President, Vice-President, Treasurer and Secretary”
and DELETE the word “Secretary” so
that this following line reads:
“In the event of the death or
incapacitation or resignation of both the President and Vice-President, the
position will be held by the Treasurer for the remainder of the term.”
Section 4 – CHANGE ENTIRE SECTION TO READ:
” Duties of the Treasurer and Secretary
“The Secretary shall be responsible for
the recording of the minutes of all meetings and shall receive, distribute and
care for all business records and papers belonging to the Association. The
Treasurer shall bill, collect, make necessary payments, tax reports and keep
account of and properly safeguard all funds of the Association. The Treasurer
shall maintain a record of all members. The Secretary shall maintain a record of
all members attendance at regular meetings.”
Chapter IV – Committees
Section 1 – Designation
CHANGE the first line to read:
“In addition to the Executive Committee,
consisting of the current President, Vice-President, Treasurer, Secretary and
Chairman of the Consultant Committee, the Association shall have the following
standing committees…”
Section 1 (c) – Consultant Committee
CHANGE the second line to read:
“The Consultant Committee chairman shall
be the immediate past President.”
Section 1 (d) – Historical Committee
DELETE the word “Treasurer”
Section 1 (e) – Nominating Committee
CHANGE the second line to read
“…shall be responsible for presenting
nominations for President, Vice-President, Treasurer and Secretary at the
September business meeting.”
Section 3 – Submission of Records and Papers
DELETE the word “Treasurer”
Please direct any questions, concerns or ideas
regarding these Proposed Amendments to the members of the
current Executive or Consultant Committees prior to September 7, 2000.
