programs and facilities integrated with Quenpro’s successful training
initiatives will provide the forensic community the tools they need to

Quenpro Inc. and
the University at Albany Northeast Regional Forensic Institute (NERFI) have
joined in a unique partnership designed to deliver the highest quality ISO/IEC
17025 training programs.  Quenpro has
extensive experience in providing ISO/IEC 17025 training for many forensic
laboratories, and for the American Society of Crime Laboratory Directors
Laboratory Accreditation Board (ASCLD/
LAB).  NERFI has the experience and facilities to
provide academic based credit bearing forensic programs.  A variety of courses and support services are
planned to assist forensic laboratories in the implementation of an ISO based
quality system.  The first course in the
program is listed below:

 

Forensic Laboratory Accreditation –
ISO/IEC 17025:2005 Management System Implementation

1. Course Description

The two day course
includes: – general concepts of a quality system: – a detailed review of the
elements of ISO/IEC 17025 (2005) – General
Requirements for the Competence of Testing and Calibration Laboratories
and
recognized forensic guidelines; 
planning, implementation and maintenance of a quality system.  Workshops enable the participant to develop
and apply their knowledge to laboratory process management for implementation
of a quality system.  This course is
intended for laboratory directors, quality managers and scientists engaged in
applying the requirements of this standard to their laboratory quality
management system. Registrants are expected to have read the ISO/IEC 17025
standard and complete a short assignment prior to the course.

2. Goals /Objectives

The course will explain elements of both the
ISO/IEC 17025 standard, related forensic guidelines (ILAC G19-2002) and other
supplements. It will prepare the student to apply quality management processes
to daily activities in the forensic laboratory and prepare for, or maintain,
formal accreditation.

4.  Grading Criteria for Certificate

At the conclusion of the course, an examination
is available for those who wish to demonstrate their understanding of quality
assurance in the forensic laboratory. 
1.6 NERFI Forensic Learning Credits will be granted for successful
completion of the examination.
