TRACE EVIDENCE/DRUG ANALYSIS CRIMINALIST II or III

 

The Broward Sheriff’s Office, a 6,100 member

department in Fort Lauderdale, Florida is seeking qualified

individuals to fill Criminalist II or III positions in the

agency’s ASCLD/ISO accredited Crime Laboratory.  Under direction, the position prepares and

analyzes chemical and evidentiary samples in criminal identification and

investigations. Employees perform specialized technical and scientific work in

the application of moderately complex to advanced laboratory techniques in

trace evidence/drug analysis.  Position

is also responsible for the formal reporting of and testifying to the findings

of such analysis. 

 

Requirements:

Bachelor’s

degree in the natural or physical sciences, to include organic chemistry,

qualitative analysis (analytical chemistry), and instrumental analysis

(advanced analytical chemistry).  

 

Minimum of 2

years experience in a crime laboratory analyzing trace evidence/controlled

substances.  Criminalist III position required certification by the

American Board of Criminalistics. 

 

Annual

salary range:

Criminalist II                       $47,783 – $78,579

Criminalist III                      $52,656

– $85,771
